Water Safety in the Garden

Outdoor play is essential for a child’s development, but it’s crucial to ensure their safety, particularly around water in your garden. While playing with water in the garden can be enjoyable, the ease of access to water in familiar environments can sometimes lead to overlooking the associated risks.

• Cover all water storage tanks, hot tubs, and drains.
• Make sure the garden hosepipe is turned off at the main tap to prevent unsupervised access by children.
• If you have a garden pond, ensure it is surrounded by a sturdy cover or barrier to protect children.
• Never leave children unattended near garden water features, ponds, paddling pools, swimming pools, or hot tubs.
• Children under five should not use hot tubs; discuss safety with older children regarding hot tub use.
• After use, drain paddling pools, buckets, or containers and store them upside down.
